A firepower exercise 'Sarvatra Prahar' by the Indian Army was conducted in the ranges of School of Artillery at Devlali in Nashik district of Maharashtra.
During the exercise, held on January 9, by the artillery wing of the Army, the "Gunners" displayed their prowess and deadly firepower, an official release said today.
The entire range of guns, from the indigenous 120 mm Mortar, 155 mm Soltam, 105 mm Indian Filed Gun, 105 mm Light Field Gun, 130 mm Medium Gun to the sophisticated 155 mm FH 77B Bofors and 122 mm Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher GRAD BM 21 demonstrated their awesome and destructive power.
An array of new generation rocket and missile systems like Pinaka, Smerch and a model of Brahmos missile were also displayed. Surveillance and Target Acquisition equipment like the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Surveillance Sensors and Weapon Locating Radars were also showcased during the exercise.
These devices, when used in conjunction with the guns, are capable of enhancing the effect of fire power, thereby acting as Force Multipliers.
A special draw was the Combat Free Fall by the elite Airborne Gunners from helicopters. The helicopters flown by Army Aviators airlifted a 120 mm mortar as part of the exercise for delivering firepower resources in inaccessible areas.
The event was utilized as a platform to showcase the technological advancements and equipment profile of Regiment of Artillery to representatives of various leading companies as part of 'Make In India' concept.
Exercise 'Sarvatra Prahar' provided the requisite synergy between School of Artillery and the representatives of Indian industry which would facilitate the development and designing of various weapon systems ingenuously.
School of Artillery shared the modernization perspective of Indian Artillery and explored the capabilities of the industry and academia which have immense potential to align with technological needs of Indian Artillery.
