Army sends farmers to HP to get acquainted with new seed

Army today sent a group of ten farmers from the remote areas of Rajouri district on a tour to Agriculture University Palampur in Himachal Pradesh to get them acquainted with modern developments in seed technology.

The Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Kalakote, under the aegis of Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) facilitated the tour of ten farmers hailing from the remote Kalakote Tehsil to Agriculture University, Palampur in Himachal Pradesh with assistance from the Department of Agriculture, Rajouri today, a defence spokesman said here.

The tour is being organised as part of the ongoing perception management activities for farmers, he said.
 

The aim of the tour is to expose farmers with modern developments in seed technology, their production and further increase in crop yields, he said.

The farmers will also visit department of horticulture, mushroom farming and green house laboratories in the university, which will allow them insight into farming techniques, the spokesman said.

The tour will broaden their horizon regarding new techniques of farming as well as provide them an opportunity to visit places of interest in Himachal Pradesh like Palampur and Dharmshala, he added.
