''The army has not only successfully undertaken several combat operations to neutralise the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tigers (KPLT) but has inititated several projects to win the hearts of the people of the district'', defence sources said here today.
The army unit at Diphu has initiated the projects under 'Operation Sadbhavana' and has undertaken several welfare projects in providing assistance in terms of medical as well as infrastructural development in the remote areas of East Karbi Anglong.
Safe drinking water, community halls or the central public places with attached toilets, solar lights, classrooms with toilets and medical equipments including furniture and water purifiers for Public Health Centres have been provided in different areas of the district.
The projects were framed after due consultations with the locals and recommendations from the village elders and similar projects are being planned with the aim to reach out to more people in the remote areas of Karbi Anglong, the sources added.
