Around 20,000 litres of spirit worth Rs 25 lakh, being illegally transported, was seized in Maharashtra's Solapur district, excise officials said today.
Acting on a tip-off from officials in Chhattisgarh, a joint team of Yavatmal Excise officials and a flying squad of the excise department from Mumbai intercepted the tanker at the old check post in Solapur yesterday, they said.
The tanker was on its way to Goa and 'Ammonia liquid' was written on it. The spirit was seized and the driver arrested, officials said, adding investigation is on.
