As many as 41 child labourers, employed in zari and bag stitching units and roadside eateries have been rescued.
The two joint operations involving Delhi government officials, police and Bachpan Bachao Andolan officials were carried out on March 15-16 at various such illegal units and a placement agency located at the city's Devli and Tihar Gaon areas, BBA's Rakesh Senger said.
The children, aged between 10-16, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhand were "forced" to work from 8 AM to till late in night were given Rs 50 to Rs 100 a week, Senger claimed.
The rescued children have been divided into two groups and sent to Mukti Ashram - BBA's short term rehabilitation centre - Don Bosco Child care home at Palam Gaon and Nirmal Chhaya, a welfare home in Hari Nagar.
Citing the cases, RS Chaurasia, chairperson of BBA said that the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2012, that "limits" the number of hazardous occupation will "greatly limit" the protection to children in the age of 14 to 18 working in exploitative situations.
