On the call given by United Forum of Bank Unions, around 66,000 bank employees of public sector banks in Uttar Pradesh went on a strike to press for wage revision.
"Nearly 66,000 employees of 7,500 branches of different public sector banks in the state remained on strike," convenor of Lucknow unit of UFBU S K Sangtani said.
He said that 8,000 employees of 800 PSU bank branches in Lucknow were on a strike.

The striking employees assembled in front of Hazratganj branch of Allahabad Bank and staged a demonstration.
The strike affected banking services like cheque clearance and withdrawal from branches across the state.
The wage revision of public sector bank employees has been due since November 2012.
