Arrangements made for smooth conduct of polls in Manipur

All arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of by-elections to the Hiyanglam assembly constituency in Manipur's Thoubal district tomorrow, state election officials said today.

The seat fell vacant due to the death of former Information Minister Maibam Kunjo.

Election officials said there are five candidates in the fray E Dijamani (INC), M Dhanabir (BJP), Th Laiba (MSCP) Manipur State congress Party, Dr Y Radheshyam (ITC) Indian Trinamool Congress and M Amutombi (MPP) Manipur Peoples party.

Around 20,000 voters are expected to exercise their franchise, officials said adding that all the 23 polling stations have been declared hyper-sensitive.
