Arrested CPI-M functionary alleges threat to life by police

P Mohanan, Kozhikode District Secretariat member, in an affidavit submitted before the Vatakara First Class Judicial Magistrate that the Special Investigation Team probing the murder threatened to eliminate him if he did not cooperate with the investigation.

Mohanan, produced in the court on expiry of his 12-day police custody today, also claimed that the SIT was also holding out threats that his wife and CPI-M MLA K K Lathika would be made an accused in the case.

The court remanded him to judicial custody till July 13.

Mohanan was arrested on June 29 by Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the May 4 murder of the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader for his alleged involvement in hatching the plot.

 

Besides Mohanan, several local level leaders of the CPI-M had been arrested in connection with the murder.
