Arrow hits SAI trainees throat during practice

An arrow hit the throat of a girl trainee during archery practice this morning at the Sports Authority of India centre at Bolpur in West Bengal and was later removed.

SAI centre in-charge Utpal Ganguly said Farida Khatun, a 15-year-old trainee of Kabiguru Kriangan was injured on the right side of her throat by an arrow thrown by another trainee during practice. The arrow broke after hitting her.

"The direction of the arrow had changed suddenly due to the wind. The girl is now out of danger," he said.

Farida, who hails from nearby Labhpur village, was rushed to Bolpur sub-division hospital where doctors took out the broken arrow, he added.
