Similar thoughts inspired Bharat and Mrida Joshi, a painter-photographer duo to put up an exhibition recently. The incredible beauty of nature and the phases it has witnessed since existence of time were depicted at a lively gallery of canvasses and frames here.

"Witnesses of time" - an art exhibition cum fundraiser event to support World Wide Fund(WWF) showcased an interesting mix of work done by the art duo.

The exhibition with an aim of creating awareness towards the increasing need of environment and wildlife conservations was inaugurated by S Y Quraishi, Chief Election Commissioner of India and T K A Nair, Advisor to Prime Minister.

Mrida, a corporate lawyer by profession is an art lover. As a painter she experiments with different media, forms and styles. Inspired by Vedic Sciences she attempts to draw and discover parallels to what she does, that are embedded in deep forgotten history.

"I love to work on canvas, Chinese, handmade and silk paper, wood and walls because these materials bear textures that add to the character of a painting," says Mrida.

Bharat on the other hand is intrigued by communication. And has been exploring the many forms and media of communication: radio, print journalism, public speaking, and now, photography. An avid literature lover Bharat writes for a newspaper and can be heard doing shows on All India Radio. MORE
