An art-gallery-cum library would be set up in Mahe by utilising Rs 65 lakh allocated from the MLAs Local Area Development Fund by Congress legislator and former minister E Valsaraj, himself an artist.

Announcing this here today, Valsaraj, who represents Mahe in the assembly, said the proposed gallery would enable artists to display art pieces and paintings.

He also said his own paintings would be exhibited in the gallery.

Valsaraj said 35 of his paintings would be on display at a five-day exhibition to be inaugurated here by Chief Minister N Rangasamy tomorrow.

Stating that painting gave him peace of mind, Valsaraj said he had never offered any of his art works for sale.
