Delhi-based painter Trishna Singh has captured feminine power as well as different elements of nature in her solo art show here.
Titled, 'Chitra', the exhibition offers a glimpse of Singh's journey of self expression through her depiction of the feminine form and the wilderness of flora and fauna.
The exhibition features a collection of around 90 paintings by the artist, in oil and water colours, showcasing the diverse array of her works created over a span of six years.
"The exhibition is about documentation of the female form and the celebration of nature through my tryst with life," says Singh.
Through her brushstrokes, the artist has attempted to capture the understanding of her own self and surroundings while celebrating femininity in abstract strokes.
"In beginning I was painting myself on canvass while looking into the mirror and slowly and slowly it drove me towards exploring different elements of feminine beauty," Singh says.
The artist who has been influenced by works of distinguished painter Arpana Caur, says painting serves as major medium for interpreting world around her.
"Painting is a medium that offers me an intimate and imaginative approach to understanding and interpreting the world around me.
"Having travelled extensively and experimented with various media of art like watercolour and oil paints, I believe in story telling through my paintings and through this exhibition I hope to make the viewers a part of the narrative," she says.
Besides being autobiographical in nature, the exhibition also features artworks showcasing elements from Singh's surroundings that caught her attention.
"Her work is soothing to the soul. She effortlessly travels from feminine form to crisp flora and fauna to the surreal regime. Her work of art is eccentric and her talent is limitless," says Anubhav Nath, who has curated the show.
In vibrant hues of orange, red and yellow on canvas, Singh uses a free and experimental approach while painting objects that surround her.
"The style and the colour I use are part of my everyday musings of nature and things happening around me," she says.
While tigers, leopards and birds swooping across the wide expanse of blue skies, have been portrayed in lively shades, Singh has depicted different facets of human nature in subdued monochrome.
"One will see the glory of nature being juxtaposed with real life situation in most of my paintings," she says.
The exhibition underway at Ojas Art Gallery here, is set to continue till January 11.
