An artistes' body today condemned actor and BJP politician S Ve Shekher for a post he shared containing derogatory references to women scribes and media and said he should take moral responsbility for the content.
The South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) said the media was often described as the fourth pillar of democracy and lauded 'progressive' women journalists working in it.
It said that one sends a Facebook post to another person only if its acceptable to them.
"Shekher had shared the post since the opinion in it was acceptable to him. He should take moral responsibility for the content in the post," SIAA said in a release.
It also "condemned" him for "demeaning" women in an "irresponsible manner."
Shekher had courted controversy for his post on media and women scribes, but it had created a furore among journalists.
He had however apologised today for sharing the post, saying he did so by mistake and that it was unintentional.
He said he did not endorse the contents of the post.
