A clutch of veteran and budding artists are paying tributes to English master portrait and landscape master Gainsborough through an artshow here.
Artworks by six veterans - Hemraj, Vijender Sharma, Manish Pushkale, Fida Khan, Bipasha Gupta and Additee Garg - went up for show at the Shridani Arts Gallery at the Triveni Kala Sangam here at an exhibition that concludes on May 23.
The show, which also includes works by three supporting artists as well as 20 budding artists and put together by Arts Shows Unlimited was inaugurated by Sandeep Marwah, founder of the Noida Film City.
"An uncelebrated legend of his time, the entire team behind this show feels honoured in dedicating this show to Thomas Gainsborough," organisers said.
The 18th century painter was a child prodigy and was passionate about landscapes.
Meanwhile, the exhibition draws its uniqueness from the fact that each piece on display has been selected by a panel of jury members, which includes eminent artists Kanchan Chander, Kiran Soni Gupta and Sangeeta Gupta.
"I don't like to be on a panel as a jury member because it is difficult to judge art. But Iqbal is a good friend, so I did it. The artists have done a good job" said Kanchan Chander.
Iqbal Krishna and wife Rekha Gurtu both have their works on display in the exhibition.
Krishna, who specialises in surrealism said,"It is common to hold art exhibitions, but we felt that there is never any filtering of work. Everything is put up. So we sent all the art works to our jury and they decided what piece would be a part of the final show."
The artworks on show are a blend of portraits, textures, feng shui, abstract, photographs, and sculptures emphasizing the diversity of the artists and their subjectivities.
The exhibiting artists comprise a varied group with the youngest nineteen-year-old Rajaswi Zaveri.
The gallery claims that it shall "try its best to keep striving hard to bring the lesser known masters of past to the forefront and give the budding artists of today, a platform to display their works with some eminent contemporary artists."
Artist, curator and visual merchandiser Iqbal Krishna, the man behind the Arts Unlimited said, "We seeks to provide a platform to artists who are otherwise unable to display their art due to financial constraints.
