Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today condemned the "barbaric" gangrape of a septuagenarian nun in West Bengal and said the perpetrators of such heinous crime should be given an exemplary punishment.
Condemning the incident as "barbaric and inhuman", Tuki questioned the mentality of those culprits outraging the modesty of "a pious soul who had sacrificed her entire life for social service".
"The perpetrators of such heinous crime should be immediately nabbed and given exemplary punishment," the CM said in a statement, extending his solidarity with the victim.
He appealed to the West Bengal Government to intensify the investigation and book the culprits at the earliest.
Tuki also expressed deep sorrow over the demolition of a church in Hisar in Haryana.
"We are citizens of a great country known for its religious pluralism. Such kind of incident of targeting a particular community is highly condemnable," Tuki said.
He appealed to the state government and the Centre to take strict action against those involved in "disturbing peaceful co-existence amongst different communities in the country.
