Arunachal assembly adjourned as CM and others stranded on road

Traffic congestion between Itanagar and Naharlagun today has forced adjournment of the state legislative assembly for one hour without any business.

The house was adjourned for one hour immediately after the members assembled at 10 am by senior member Laeta Umbrey, who was on the chair, as Speaker Wangling Lowangdong, Deputy Speaker Jomde Kena, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and several members could not reach as they were stranded in traffic along the NH 52 A.

The state assembly is situated at Naharlagun which is 14 km away from the state capital.

Traffic jam has been a regular phenomenon for Itanagar and its adjoining areas with long queue of vehicles remained stuck along the NH 52 A, the only road between Itanagar and Naharlagun, during peak hours.
 

Though there is an alternate road from Itanagar to Naharlagun via Jully village, but its condition is not suitable for movement of vehicles.
