The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh has urged the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to declare as hyper sensitive the Assembly constituencies where Congress candidates won uncontested and deploy adequate para-military forces to ensure free and fair polling during Lok Sabha election on April 9.
In a memorandum to the CEO, BJP state unit president Tai Tagak said there was every possibility of rigging in the seven constituencies (out of 11) where Congress candidates won un-contested.
Reminding the CEO about the party's earlier complaint regarding foul play behind the withdrawal of nomination by 11 party candidates from the fray after filing nomination "under mysterious circumstances", Tagak said.
He called on the CEO yesterday also expressed disappointment over 'non-intervention or lack of action' by the EC, Tagak said in a release here today.
"Poll related violence is also feared in Itanagar Assembly Constituencies," Tagak said and demanded special attention to the trouble-torn Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.
"It has been reported and noticed that the state police and administration have also spotted arms and ammunition in the vehicles of leaders of some political parties and active involvement of rebel outfits may destroy the atmosphere for free and fair election process," he said.
