Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu called on Union Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today and discussed issues regarding PDS and pending foodgrain transportation bill of about Rs 1,000 crore.

"Many issues were discussed. We have a pending foodgrain transportation bill to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore. We discussed these issues," Khandu told reporters after the meeting.

The Centre provides to hilly states a subsidy of up to 90 per cent of the expenditure incurred on transportation of foodgrain meant for Public Distribution System (PDS).

The state government is implementing the National Food Security Act (NFSA), under which 5 kg of rice and wheat per person are supplied at a highly subsidised rate of Rs 1-3/kg every month under PDS.

The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister is on a week-long visit here till October 9. Earlier during the day, he met Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari and Anil Dave.
