Arunachal governor condoles death of Dr Ahmed

Arunachal Pradesh Governor J P Rajkhowa today expressed shock and grief at the sudden demise of his Manipur counterpart Dr. Syed Ahmed in Mumbai.

Condoling the death in a hospital, Rajkhowa said Dr. Ahmed was a distinguished and veteran politician, who will be remembered for his contribution towards education, culture and environment as Minister of State in Maharashtra and Chairman of State Haj Committee.

He was elected to the Assembly five times from Nagpada constituency in Mumbai and also served as a minister in Maharashtra, before his appointment as the eighth Governor of Jharkhand in 2011 and then as the 16th Governor of Manipur on 16th May, 2015.
 

He had authored many Urdu books of literary and historical relevance, a Raj Bhawan communique said.

Rajkhowa conveyed heartfelt condolence on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Dr. Ahmed's demise has caused a great vacuum and irreparable loss not only to his family members but also to the whole country, the communique added.
