"The attack on media is an attack on the people and therefore an affront on the government," Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said, adding that his government has decided to bear all medical expenses of the scribe.
Tuki was speaking at a high-level meeting attended by the Chief Secretary, DGP, DIG and Deputy Commissioner.
Tongam Rina, Associate Editor of English daily 'Arunachal Times', was fired upon by an unidentified person when she was about to enter her office yesterday. She is now recuperating at nearby R K Mission Hospital and reportedly out of danger.
The chief minister directed the chief secretary to sound a red alert in and around the state capital complex to apprehend those involved in the incident.
He appealed to people to remain calm and not to give the incident a communal or political colour.
Governor J J Singh also expressed anguish over the attack on Rina and termed it as an act of cowardice.
Meanwhile, all entry and exist points to the capital have been sealed and monitored by security personnel.
