The Arunachal Pradesh government has started an awareness campaign for the benefit of the tourists on the procedure of obtaining inner line permits (ILPs) to visit the state, official sources said today.
To make the procedure easier and accessible to prospective visitors, advertisements been issued to electronic and print media of Assam on how and where the ILPs could be obtained.
The awareness campaign has been necessitated following arrival of huge number of visitors without valid ILPs after the inauguration of railway line to Itanagar, the sources said.

As per the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, all visitors from outside the state are required to obtain ILP.
Pamphlets in English and Assamese have also been handed over to the railway authorities for distribution to railway passengers and general public, the sources said.
Hoardings in English and Assamese languages were also being put up in all 20 railway stations from Dekargaon (Tezpur) to Borum (Naharlagun).
