Expressing solidarity with NDTV India, the press fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh has strongly condemned the central government's order that the channel be taken off air for a day.
The Centre had decided to ban the channel for a day on November 9 for what it called a breach of national security laws relating to its coverage of the Pathankot terror attacks earlier this year.
"While we believe that the country's security is of the utmost importance, the Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) are of the opinion that the information and broadcasting ministry's decision is a violation of press freedom and sets a dangerous precedent," the media fraternity said in a statement here today.
