The battalion reached its headquarter at Riyang in East Siang district on Sunday last after completion of their two-year-long training.

'Arunachal Scout' is an infantry regiment of the Army with specialization in mountain warfare, the sources said.

The proposal to raise 'Arunachal Scout' along the lines of the illustrious 'Ladakh Scout' for defending the border with China was proposed by Arunachal Governor J J Singh, a former Army chief, in 2008.

The proposal was approved by the union cabinet in 2009 and the battalion was raised in 2010, the sources said. PTI COR UPL PR
