Punjab government today directed all the schools run by it to suspend primary classes till January 25 in the wake of severe cold in the state.
"The Punjab government has declared holiday on Saturday and Monday in all government and aided primary schools across the state on account of severe cold wave prevailing in the state," Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema said in a release issued here.
He said only the primary schools would be closed on Saturday (January 23) and Monday (January 25) whereas others schools would remain open as per routine.
Punjab and Haryana remained under the grip of severe cold conditions while dense fog, engulfing the region, affected the normal life in most parts of two states.
