Adivasi Sengel (Empowerment) Abhiyan (ASA) today staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner here in support of a domicile policy in Jharkhand.
ASA activists led by its state convenor Sonaram Soren staged the demonstration demanding a domicile policy based on language, culture and caste of the tribal community.
Addressing the gathering, Soren described the domicile policy as the soul of the Adivasi community.

Appreciating the Raghuvar Das-led state government for its seriousness on the issue, he said it was unfortunate that some of its allies have advocated of declaring November 15, 2000, the day Jharkhand state was formed, as the cut off year for the proposed policy.
Soren said such demands were nothing but a conspiracy to overlook the identity and rights of the tribal community.
"By demanding November 15, 2000 as the cut-off year, the anti-domicile forces are now trying to grab three lakh government jobs," he alleged.
Accusing the main opposition party JMM of lacking a clear stand on the issue, he said JMM had been misled the tribals on the policy.
