After the conviction of self-styled godman Asaram in a 2012 rape case, Shahjahanpur district administration has stepped up security around the house of the victim.

"After the verdict of a court in Jodhpur, the security around the house of the victim was increased. A team of local intelligence unit has been deployed in plain clothes to keep a watch on all the movements in the area," SP K P Singh said.

A large contingent of police personnel has also been deployed in the area, he said, adding that a PRV vehicle will also be stationed near her house.

Singh said police officials are in constant contact with the family. The father of the victim told mediapersons that he had received a phone call from a police official in Jodhpur to remain alert and therefore he was not venturing out.

Asaram was found guilty of raping the teenager by a Jodhpur court on April 25. The teenager from Shahajanpur was studying at the self-styled godman's ashram at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh.
