Following charges that the advertisement depicted the female body in an indecent manner, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has shot off a letter to ASCI asking it to look into the matter, officials said.

CPI (M) MP Brinda Karat had taken up the matter with Soni earlier.

ASCI, which is an independent authority promoting self regulation in advertising, has sought the response of the Mumbai-based ad agency which created the commercial, the officials said.

The advertisement in question sells a hygiene wash which promises to bring fairness and freshness to women's private parts. PTI ADS
