Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Monday announced an appointment of Ashok Ganapathy as the Director of Airtel Business with effect from July 1, 2016.

He will take over from Manish Prakash, who is moving into a new role as Director - Strategic Alliances.

Ganapathy will report to Gopal Vittal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (India & South Asia), Airtel.

"I am delighted at the appointment of Ashok to lead Airtel Business, which is a key contributor to our growth. I am confident that his diverse experience will bring immense value to the portfolio that Manish has successfully built," Vittal said.
 

In the new role, Ashok will be responsible for driving the growth of Airtel's Business-to-Business portfolio that serves top corporations, government entities and other corporates with end-to-end solutions.

Ganapathy joined Airtel in 2013 as the Hub CEO for Mumbai, Maharashtra, Goa & Gujarat circles. He has over 26 years of experience across FMCG, retail, entertainment and telecom sectors. He is a B.Tech from IIT- Madras and completed his MBA from IIM - Ahmedabad. He started his career with Hindustan Unilever in 1990 as a Management Trainee.
