Senior revenue officer Ashok Kumar Mehta was today appointed as Private Secretary to President Pranab Mukherjee.
Mehta, a 1987 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, is working as Commissioner in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, as per his service records.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Mehta as PS to the President, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
He has been appointed on co-terminus basis with the President's tenure, it said.
Mehta has been appointed in place of Rajneesh, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre. Today's order did not mention further posting of Rajneesh who was working as PS to the President since July 25, 2012.
