Ashok Leyland Q2 net profit jumps 71% to Rs 294.41 cr

Hinduja flagship firm Ashok Leyland today reported a 70.96 per cent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 294.41 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2016.

The company had posted a standalone net profit of Rs 172.2 crore in the same period last fiscal, Ashok Leyland said in a BSE filing.

Its total income from operations stood at Rs 4,911.62 crore as against Rs 5,274.36 crore in the year ago period, down 6.87 per cent.

While, the company had a foreign exchange gain of Rs 6.56 crore in the quarter under review, in the year-ago period it had incurred an exceptional item loss of Rs 157 crore as impairment loss in respect of investments in joint ventures and subsidiaries.
 

Shares of Ashok Leyland were trading 2.23 per cent up at Rs 91.65 on BSE.
