Ashoka University today said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Singularity University (SU) to foster innovation in India.
Headquartered at NASA Research Park in California, SU is exploring one of its first strategic partnerships in India focused on launching the Global Impact Competition (GIC), Ashoka University said in a statement.
SU aims to develop a global network of innovation ecosystems alongside a coalition of entrepreneurs, businesses, universities, government agencies and nonprofits, it added.

Videocon launches new smartphone for Rs 4,999 * Videocon Mobile Phones today launched a new smartphone -- Infinium Z45 Nova -- for Rs 4999, exclusively with eCommerce firm Flipkart.
The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android KitKat operating system.
The smartphone features 4.5-inch screen, 1GB RAM, 8GB memory (expandable to 32GB), 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera and 1,700 mAh battery.

IRDA renamed as 'IRDA of India'
* The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) has been renamed as 'Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India'.
"Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) shall henceforth be known as 'Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India' (Irda of India)," the insurance sector regulator said in a release today.
The change in name came to effect after the promulgation of Insurance Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014 by the President of India on December 26, 2014.
