Ashwani Kumar manages to spend 93 per cent of MP LAD funds

Former Union minister and Congress leader Ashwani Kumar has come out on top among Rajya Sabha members from Punjab for utilising the largest proportion of the official funds allotted to him for his constituency.

Kumar has managed to spend 93.27 per cent of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development funds, official sources said today.

But the credit for being the Parliamentarian who has managed the greatest spending from local funds goes to the Shiromani Akali Dal's Lok Sabha MP from Faridkot reserve constituency, Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, with 99.86 utilisation.

According to data released recently by Parliament, the 13 Lok Sabha and seven Rajya Sabha members from Punjab were allotted total funds of Rs 247 crore and Rs 163 crore, respectively.
 

Official sources said here that the Congress MP from Fatehgarh Sahib, Sukhdev Singh Libra, was at the bottom of the list for utilising development funds with 58.61 per cent spending.

Congress MP Manish Tewari has an unspent balance of Rs 7.21 crore, the report added while BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu has an outstanding Rs 3.32 crore which he failed to spend.
