Ashwani Kumar, who had to step down as Law Minister in the wake of controversy over sharing of CBI's probe report on coalgate with him, has been nominated to the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Sources said the Congress high command has also nominated him to the Standing Committee on Defence.

Kumar, a Rajya Sabha member, was a member of the PAC earlier too.

They said Kumar today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his Parliament House office where they discussed the ongoing Monsoon session.

CBI director Ranjit Sinha had filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court recently, confirming that the status report had been "shared" with Kumar and an officer each from the Coal Ministry and Prime Minister's Office "as desired by them".
