ASI among two arrested, robbery plan foiled

During a routine vehicle checking at Tanda area, police intercepted a car in the wee hours. As soon as the car was stopped, its occupants ran in different directions, Hoshiarpur SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu said.

After a brief chase, police managed to arrest Tarn Taran Hardip Singh, an ASI of traffic police wing, and another person named Jaspreet Singh.

Two gas cylinders, a gas cutter, iron rods, some tools, a service revolver of .9 MM bore along with 12 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

Their three other accomplices managed to flee.

The registration number plate of the car was also found to be fake.

 

During interrogation, the two arrested told police they were planning to loot some bank or ATM machine counter, Sidhu said. PTI CORR SUN KAS
