ASI, constable held for taking bribe of Rs 5000

The ACB has arrested an assistant police sub-inspector and a constable for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5000 at their Sirpur police station.

ACB team comprising sleuths from Yavatmal and Washim districts caught ASI Dilip Kamble and constable Ramdas Dhongale red-handed yesterday, sources said.

The duo had allegedly sought illegal gratification for releasing a vehicle, owned by complainant, they had seized earlier.

An FIR was registered against the duo under sections 7, 12,13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
