ASI, constable injured in firing by murder case accused

A assistant sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured when a murder case accused and his associate shot at them here.

Anshu Dixit, undergoing imprisonment on murder charges, had escaped from UP's Sitapur jail about six months back and when UP Special Task Force found out his location in Bhopal recently, they arrived here to catch him, a senior police official said today.

The UPSTF team, led by ASI Sandeep Mishra and assisted by two constables of local crime branch, on getting information that Anshu was roaming in Habibganj under-bridge area, reached the spot last night and found him near a wine shop, he said.
 

The moment police challenged him, he opened fire at them causing grievous injuries to Mishra and constable Raghvendra Pandey.

Dixit then fled from the spot along with his associate in a white car bearing registration number of Delhi, the official said.

The injured policemen were admitted in a private hospital and their condition was serious, he said.

Inspector General Bhopal, Yogesh Choudhary said an intense search is on to nab the culprits.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur also visited the injured policemen today in the hospital to enquire about their condition.
