ASI gets 5 years of stern imprisonment in bribery case

A court here has sentenced an assistant sub inspector to five years rigorous imprisonment for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 in 2003.

Anti Corruption Court Judge Raghvendra Kachwal sentenced ASI, Abdul Salam to five years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him, which, if not paid, would entail in six more months of jail, Assistant Public Prosecution Director (APPD), Anti Corruption Court, Kota, Ahsaan Ahmed said today.

Salam, a resident of Rampuriya area of Anta town in Baran district, was caught red-handed by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on September 18, 2003 from one Syad Asad Ali, resident of Laadpura area, for writing a report in his favour and to submit Finale Report (FR) in a land related case against him in which the ASI was Investigating Officer (IO).
