ASI held for accepting bribe of Rs 10,000

Lokayukta Police today caught red-handed a police officer for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 at Bhikangaon police station in the district.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Om Prakash was held when he was accepting the money from complainant to "settle" a dispute in his family, said DSP, Lokayukta Police, B S Parihar.

He said a trap was laid at the police station after the complainant had approached Indore Lokayukta against the ASI.

Immediately after his arrest, Om Prakash complained of chest pain following which he was shifted to Indore for treatment, the DSP said.

Meanwhile, district SP N P Barkade has placed the ASI under suspension with immediate effect and the latter's senior Town Inspector Brajesh Shrivastava is line-attached following the action by Lokayukta Police.
