Press Trust of India New Delhi
As part of its efforts to encourage cashless purchase of entry tickets, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started installing point of sale (POS) machines at monuments maintained by it.

Currently, the machines are available at ticket counters at Red Fort and Qutub Minar. Installation of these machines at other monuments is under process.

"ASI provides POS machines at Red Fort & Qutub Minar at Delhi ticket counters. Installation at other monuments in process. #CashlessIndia," Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma tweeted today.

The move is expected to ease hardships being faced by tourists, specially foreigners, in purchasing tickets after the government's demonetisation move last month.
