Sandeep Rampal was arrested from a roadside eatery early today by a police team, which had been camping in the jungles of Ramgarh, around 90 kilometres from Bhopal, after getting tip-off that the accused was hiding there, Amritsar Police Commissioner Ram Singh said.
Sandeep subsequently was produced in a court at Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, which handed his custody to Punjab Police on a transit remand till December 21 to produce him in the court here, said the police commissioner.
The police has already arrested the other five accused, including prime accused Ranjit Singh Rana, he said.
Assistant Sub Inspector Ravinderpal Singh was allegedly shot dead in full public view by Rana, an Akali Dal leader, and his accomplices on December 5 after he objected to the harassment of his daughter.
