An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police has been suspended after he allegedly, in an inebriated condition, misbehaved and fought with a youth in Kaimur district in dry Bihar, police said on Tuesday.
The incident happened on Monday night under the jurisdiction of Ramgarh police station when the youth was returning home in Ramgarh town, the police said.
The youth, Abhimanyu Gupta, lodged an FIR on Monday and in his complaint he mentioned that ASI Mantun Kumar, under the influence of alcohol, misbehaved with him and also indulged in a fight with with him, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Kaimur district, Raghunath Singh, said.
The ASI was sent to a Bhabua Sadar Hospital for medical examination on Monday night and the doctors confirmed that the ASI had consumed liquor, the DSP said.
"ASI Mantun Kumar was arrested for consuming liquor. But he was later released on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 50,000 as it was his first offence," the DSP said.
Kaimur district Superintendent of Police (SP) Faroguddin Ansari said ASI Mantun Kumar has been suspended for consuming liquor and subsequently misbehaving and indulging in a fight with the youth.
After getting the probe report, action will also be taken against Ramgarh police station SHO Mohammad Irshad for his alleged connivance with the suspended ASI Mantun Kumar, the SP said.
