Asia Star Global Packaging awards to be given on Dec 17

Asia Star 2016 International awards for excellence in packaging would be presented to the winners at the Asian Packaging Congress here on December 17.

The congress is being organised by Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) in collaboration with Asian Packaging Federation (APF).

IIP is an autonomous body in the field of packaging working under the Union Ministry of commerce and Industry.

Asia Star is the only regional packaging award in the continent and is popularly known as "The Packaging Oscar of Asia", said N C Saha, Director, IIP.

The awards would be given in four categories -- consumer, transportation, eco-package (Environmentally sustainable package) and student.
 

The nominees will be judged in a secret conclave by national representatives, Saha, who is also Secretary General of APF, said.

In addition, the APF Presidential Award will be presented to the entry scoring maximum marks, Saha added.

The award winners would be selected on December 15 by a renowned jury in a contest in which more than 200 packaging entries would compete, the IIP Director said.

IIP is primarily engaged in training, education, research & development activities and promotes the export market by way of innovative package design and development. It also conducts various activities like testing and evaluation of packaging materials and packages, consultancy services.

IPI has been recognised by World Packaging Organisation (WPO) as the largest packaging institute in the world in terms of infrastructural facilities, Saha added.
