Asian cadet and junior judo in Kochi

The 10th Asia Cadet and 17th Asia Junior Judo Championship is to held in Kochi from September 7 to 11 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Japan, Korea, China and Taipei are among the other Asian countries that would be participating in the tournament.

Four judokas from Maharashtra have been picked as members of the Indian contingent in the tournament which is being organised jointly by Judo Federation of India, Judo Union of Asia and Kerala Judo Association, said a media release from the Maharashtra Judo Association.

Shravan Shegde of Aurangabad (in junior category), Shubhangi Raut from Nagpur, Snehal Khaware and Rucha Dhopeshwar of Pune (cadet category) are the four judokas from the state who have made it to the national team.
 

This is after two decades that India would be playing host to an international judo competition. Delhi had hosted the Asian Championship in 1996.
