Featuring 100 events in nine sports, the AIMAG would take place from June 29 to July 6, 2013 and serve as a test event for the Asiad the following year, the OCA said.

The OCA's Coordination Committee, headed by Tsunekazu Takeda of Japan, was updated on the progress of the AIMAG at Incheon today.

Nine existing venues will be used, including the Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium for the opening and closing ceremonies, electronic sports and dance sport, the OCA said.

Organisers expect 2,400 athletes to take part, as well as 1,000 media and 2,700 volunteers.

The first important date for different National Olympic Committees is entry by sport to be sent by the end of this month.

Takeda praised the work put up by the organisers.

"This is a difficult task. It is not an easy job, but we are very satisfied with the progress. I am confident it (AIMAG) will be a great success," he said, according to a release by OCA.

The 17th Asian Games are to open on September 19 and end on October 4, 2014. The Games would feature around 20,000 athletes, officials and media from the 45 National Olympic Committees.
