Asian Paints shares end 3% higher on bourses

Shares of Asian Paints closed nearly 3 per cent today after operations at the company's plant in Tamil Nadu returned to normalcy.

The stock gained 2.75 per cent to settle at Rs 816.85 on the BSE. During the day, it rose by 3.26 per cent to Rs 820.90.

At the NSE, shares of the company climbed 2.81 per cent to Rs 817.65 at close.

In a filing to the BSE on Friday, the company had said that operations at its paint plant situated at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, have returned to normalcy.

Operations at the company's paint plant were affected due to cessation of work by operators belonging to Asian Paints Employees' Union with effect from April 28, 2015.
 

Meanwhile, in the broader market, the BSE barometer Sensex ended 299.79 points up at 27,961.19.
