BJP today submitted a memorandum to the Himachal Pradesh Governor urging him to ask government not to shift Medium Irrigation Projects Division from Bassi to Matiana.
Led by state BJP vice-president and Nainadevi MLA Randhir Sharma, the delegation met Governor Acharya Dev Vrat and told him that a notification was issued on August 10 regarding the shifting of the division from Bassi to Matiana, the constituency of Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, and urged him to direct the government to restore the status quo.
The delegation said the people of the area are agitated over the decision as the Rs 100-crore project was catering to 35 villages of nine panchayats.

Meanwhile, former chief minister and leader of the Opposition in Assembly P K Dhumal today alleged that the government was not serious in developing better infrastructure in the state.
He said the Congress government had promised to construct 7500 km roads in the election manifesto but only 1475 km roads have been constructed in last 45 months.
The Union government has sanctioned 56 new national highways to the state but the government was not serious about their execution and even the detailed project reports (DPRs) of these projects have not been sent to the Centre, Dhumal said.
Due to the corruption and red-tapism, Nalagarh-Swarghat, Theog-Hatkoti and some other highways have not been completed, he alleged.
