Aspiring women entrepreneurs empowered

Diageo, a leading premium drinks company, and British Council today recognised 104 women, who completed specialised training programme to develop skills for social enterprise.

At a function organised at Avinashilingam University for Women, here, the district Collector, Archana Patnaik gave away certificate to the successful participants, ranged from students, recent graduates and emerging entrepreneurs, who have already founded their businesses.

The social enterprise training programmes were part of ongoing partnership between Diageo and Council through Diageo's Plan-W, a community investment program which aimed to empoiwer two million women across Asia-Pacific by 2017 trough learning.

Paul Sellers, Director, British Council, Southern India, said that sessions like the ones held in Coimbatore provided training in how to identify business opportunities within social needs, develop business plans and understand legal and regulatory requirements.
