"The financial health of the state has become robust during the past decade and we have also achieved the third highest rate of progress in Human Development Index in comparison to major Indian States," Gogoi said at the concluding session of the Review meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police here last evening.

In the agriculture sector, too, the state has been adjudged as the 'Highest ranked state' among category II states for best performance in food grains production.

He urged the Deputy Commissioners to ensure proper and timely implementation of all the Flagship schemes like MNREGA, IAY, SSA, NRHM etc.

He also emphasised the importance of vocational training and skill upgradation in tackling the problem of unemployment which was the major cause of insurgency.

He also urged the proper implementation of the "Chief Minister's Vision 2016 for Women and Children" to counter the ill effects of malnutrition, anaemia, maternal and neo-natal mortality, adverse child-sex ratio, rising crimes against women and unsatisfactory provision of sanitation and provision of safe drinking water.

He also urged the officials to streamline the Public Distribution System by way of eliminating bogus cards and ensure computerisation.

Gogoi further reiterated the importance of ensuring accountable, people-orientated, transparent, prompt, corruption free and responsive administration.
