Assam came back into the reckoning with a 35-run victory over Odisha in their East Zone league for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament played at the JU second campus ground in Salt Lake today.

Pritam Das claimed 4/19 to be the wrecker-in-chief as the Assam medium pacer dented Odisha's 138-run chase to be bundled out for 102 in 17.2 overs.

On a batting-friendly track, Odisha got off to a flying start with Abu Nechim conceding 15 runs in the first over but Arup Das (2/19) grabbed two in two balls in the next over to trigger a collapse.

Opener Paresh Patel (38 from 38 balls) tried to salvage the damage Tripura bowlers got crucial breakthroughs to expose Odisha's batting frailty, even as they were on par with the required run-rate.

Earlier, Sibsankar Roy (47) and Dheeraj Jadhav (33) led Assam's batting to take their total to a fighting 137/6 after they elected to bat.

Assam had suffered a 44-run loss against Bengal in their opening fixture at the Eden Gardens yesterday.
