Assam beat Tripura by 7 wkts as opener Aziz shines

Opener Parvez Aziz scored 72 as Assam notched up a comfortable seven-wicket win over minnows Tripura in an East Zone leg match of the Vijay Hazare Tropjy, here today.

Put into bat, Tripura managed a meagre 160 in 46.3 overs with Nirupam Sen Chowdhury scoring 50 and Yogesh takawale chipping in with 36.

Pacers Arup Das and Pritam Laru Das bowled well to get two wickets apiece while senior pacer Abu Nechim Ahmed got a wicket.

In reply, Assam cruised to the target in 32.2 overs with Aziz and Gokul Sharma (66) adding 84 runs for the third wicket stand. Left-hander Aziz hit 10 fours and a six in 88 balls while Sharma smashed 10 fours in 78 balls.
 

Brief Scores: Tripura 160 in 46.3 overs (Nirupam Sen Chowdhury 50, Yogesh Takawale 36, Arup Das 2/15, Pritam Laru Das 2/23).
